Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare

St. John’s Wood Primary is committed to ensuring all our pupils feel safe and to providing a secure school environment for learners, staff, parents/carers and visitors.

The safety of our pupils is our number one priority and the school swiftly takes action if disclosures are made or they have concerns about harm. Children understand the importance of talking to an adult if they are sad, worried or frightened. This is part of our pupil code of conduct and means that pupils are comfortable talking to adults about things that they are worried about.

Operation Encompass

St John’s Wood Primary School is part of Operation Encompass, a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

 Operation Encompass is a notification sent to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse resulting in police attendance.

 As a school, we have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures, allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the children in our care.
